For example, in a simple Contact Management system you would model the Companies by defining a company name, address, telephone number etc., then model the Contacts by defining their name, company they work for, telephone number etc. Having defined the Items for your system, you can customise the way that the data entry screens are displayed, customise the search screens to search through the records for an Item, specify how Items relate to one other; for example, defining a cross reference relationship between Contacts and Companies. In no time at all you will have the essence of your information management system, because all data entry, data edit and data search screens are generated automatically by EIM! You can then define the users for the system, control them via security groups which define the permissions at both the user level and the field level, and you can even customise tooltips to be displayed against the information at run time, to help guide your users through the data entry process. Building a system can take anything from a few days to a few weeks - for systems that would take many months to deliver with conventional programming techniques, for example, if you were to build a web based application with Visual Basic and ASP pages). So EIM also provides you with a rapid application development environment, without the overheads associated with conventional programming languages. What you have at the end of this build process is a fully functioning, multi-user, web based, information management system - ready to deploy across your organisation. As the name suggests - Easy Information Management - the philsophy of the product is to provide a comprehensive information management system which is both very easy and intuitive to use but is also easy to administer and deploy.
